Although my time with VIN was very short, I have thoroughly enjoyed it. I have been on a career break for the past 7 months and have been travelling and getting involved in volunteer programs in each of the countries I’ve visited. My work with VIN was in all honesty a last minute decision, I had planned to just do the tourist thing in Nepal but as time passed the thought of spending 4 weeks without working was too daunting to bear (seems I’m not very good at the career break thing) so I sought out work in Kathmandu.
All of my previous volunteer assignments have been with animals… I’m an IT professional and I’m not very good at interacting with humans … I didn’t have much success in finding an animal oriented role so I opted for hiding away in an office and helping out as best I could that way.
Through the work I have done here I have been able to review all of the programs VIN provides. From what I can see every program is very carefully thought out and extremely valuable to the community. So for those of you who particularly enjoy working with people of all ages I wholeheartedly encourage you to join in and be a part of VIN as there will definitely be a place for you here.
