Training to Child Clubs to Manage Trash in School

VIN’s International Health volunteers together with local volunteer have conducted a day “campaign on trash management” among 8 schools in Jitpur, Nepal. Two medical students as a volunteer under community health and medical care project were facilitator of the training. It was aim to train children club members on trash management and motivate them to implement action in schools for the successful management of trash. It was found that about 60 children from 8 child clubs were directly benefited from the project. It has an influence to more than 1000 school children. It was expected that the training will be effective to bring out the changes in school environment.

A campaign on trash management was designed for the improvement of school environment in Jitpur community. VIN has supported public bin to all schools. It was a strategy to implement project through child clubs. Children club from each school were trained on trash management, motivate to develop an action plan and supported notice board to put on the corner of schools. Children in campaign worked out to develop an action plan. They made a plan to clean school and collect trash every week. They plan to punish those who throw trash on ground. School principal and child club facilitator helped them and assure to monitor it. Overall it was a successful campaign conducted by VIN health volunteers. It was planned next to teach children to managed trash in community.
