The Sisters of Charity are great, so spiritual. The elderly are awesome, so much fun to work with. I am a lapsed catholic but decided to sometimes get up at 5 am to go to mass at the sisters house at 6 am. They give you a good breakfast after it. I recommend going to mass as its very beautiful. There are many local and international volunteers at the elderly home. I had so much fun hanging out with them after work and celebrating some of their birthdays. The local volunteers mostly comprise of social work and medical students.

The clients i worked with were the most infirm and in need of care. At the elderly home, in the morning the people sing Hindu songs of worship. I loved listening to them sing. There are a lot of clothes to be hand washed especially on Friday. The clients normally don’t speak English so I recommend getting Nepali lessons. A little Nepali will go a long way. And the Nepali’s will really appreciate the effort.

There is a lot of cleaning and dressing beds to be done. Working hours are 830am to 12 noon. Its very sad when a client passes but I suppose its a part of the life cycle. One client especially, i made a great friend with is Santerbadhu. He is so cool. If you meet him say hi from me
