English & Career Development Volunteer

English & Career Development Volunteer aims to teach English language and career development skills to the youth of 16 to 30 years in rural communities of Nepal. Most of the youths in marginalized communities of Nepal are not very familiar with the proper use of English language. The classroom teaching style in rural Nepal does not facilitate a full fledge learning. Additionally, the community schools in such societies rarely have a competent tutor. Therefore, having no exposure and other means of developing oneself, students seems to lack proficiency in English language.  Students are unaware about the present career trends. Many times their interest and field of study do not match. They are also not fully developed to fight and stand out in the job market after graduation.

WHAT WILL BE YOUR ROLE?

During your placement, you will be placed in one of the VIN host program locations. You will be working with various youth groups in the community teaching them basic English. You will conduct career development workshops and trainings. As an English & Career Development Volunteer, you can also teach them basic computer skills. You will orient them on issues such as CV/resume writing, facing job interviews, communication skills, presentation skills, leadership, team work and other basic life skills. If you possess any specific skill sets, you may share that as well.

Are you an excellent communicator and facilitator? If you wish to work towards strengthening the personality and exposure of youths in Nepal, you are welcome to join VIN’s English & Career Development Volunteer project. You should be comfortable giving workshops and indulging in mass communication. You should have a good command over English language. You should be aware about the current career trends in Nepal and around the world.
