Animal Care Volunteer

Animal Care Volunteer Project aims to contribute towards protection of stray animals and prevent them from further mistreatment. Numerous animals such as dogs, cows and buffaloes are seen roaming freely in almost every city corners in Nepal. It is reported that over 20,000 dogs live in the streets of Kathmandu with not much to eat and drink. They are found consuming the garbage discarded by human population. Street is their home. But, are they safe on the streets? Many time we see dead animal lying in the middle of a busy road for days. Many are beaten, kicked, stoned and abused, bodies covered in wound and scars. Sometimes when the number of street dogs exceed, community people are seen to poison them causing a painful death. The government of Nepal has not been able to address the need of these poor animals. The organisations that work towards animal welfare is not sufficient.
WHAT WILL BE YOUR ROLE?
During your placement, you will be working in one of the animal shelters in Kathmandu. You will help take care of the animals; feed them, wash them and keep them happy. You will take care of the sick and injured animals rescued from the streets. You can also conduct recreational activities for the animals. All in all, you will be working towards safeguarding the rights of animals.
