It may come as a surprise upon hearing that most people in the village community don’t have a toilets in their home. Jelkinie lies west to the Kathmandu valley . It is a remote area where people are illiterate and unaware about the public health and sanitations. The picture shows the community people with the local volunteer distributing materials provided by VIN and a toilet under construction. Project staff Kishor , Shyam, local volunteers Sher bahadur Tamang and Kishna Maya providing a lots of help for the construction of toilets in the local community.

Distribution of Materials

Construction of toilet in okharpauwa-1 jelkinie, community was initiated two years ago and has been still been going on with the help from Volunteering Initiative Nepal(VIN).It has been a major program that was launched with the help of okharpauwa jelkinie community. International volunteers take part in the construction and help spread awareness about the importance of having household toilets, their maintenance and how they improve health and sanitation.

The people in the community are slowly changing their mentality towards having a toilet and are starting to change their behavior towards the toilet construction, sanitation and many other health related strategies in that community.

There is lot of faith from the people in that community that VIN could help the Jelkinie community for the construction programs and other public health related issues. And VIN has doing a lot for the development of the Okharpauwa community relating to any programs that has come up with. We have succeed in many programs that has been conducted with the help of the local peoples.
