VIN’s Community Health and Medical Care volunteer program was first set up in mind of the healthcare situation in Nepal and its many inadequacies. VIN aims to begin with one specific community and then continue to work with others, one by one. Its first goal is to improve the basic health care conditions in Jitpur Phedi, a rural village. VIN has already set up health posts in Jitpur as well as health camps.

You, as a volunteer, with a basic background in health may be an extremely valuable asset in this volunteer program by being placed in the local community with a Nepali family, and working in the day time, alongside doctors and nurses to distribute medicine and consult with the locals about their current health conditions. Through consultation you may impart very important basic sanitation knowledge to the locals, possibly even saving lives that are in danger. In your time in the village you will also be able to make visits to childrens clubs and public schools to raise awareness and give first-aid tips. This particular Community Health and Medical Care volunteer program will be your means to make a significant impact on the Nepali rural communities as a whole, and change the lives of hundreds of locals.
