garbage management
A group of volunteers with community people conducted a garbage management campaign in Jitpur. It was conducted in 8 communities with more than 200 people. A day campaign in each area was focused on transforming knowledge of garbage management and collect garbage from the area.
A work camp was held on a garbage management project under environment and conservation program. It was conducted campaigns in Athmile, Kisandole (A)/ (B), Panchmane, Ramghat, Jitpur 3, Dadagaun and Devisthan. First they held a session about types of trashes, trash segregation and management technique and role of community people. In next session all participants went to field to collect trashes and disposed it on pit. Some of them prepared to send to land field site.
It was a successful campaign to motivate people to manage waste in communities. It is also proved by views expressed by Volunteer Fanny about program. She said there was a good interaction between speakers and publics. Sometimes, they asked us questions or give their opinions. There was a good participation to clean the streets and sometimes even children participated. Also she added that it would be better if there were more women in the campaigns. She said that it was a good experience and that this program would deserve to be put forward a little bit more. Nepal is a wonderful country and it is a pity to let garbage spoil the beautiful landscapes.
