Jitpur, Kathmandu
VIN’s main community-based pilot project is located at Jitpur, a rural community surrounded by woods, hills and fields. It lies 11 kilometres from the capital on the outskirts of the Kathmandu Valley near the beautiful Nagarjun forest reserve.
It’s just 10/12km away from the capital city. Jitpur is a very charming community not to mention a welcome escape from the pollution of Kathmandu centre. There are over 7000 population in the area. This community has 6 public and three provate schools and a small health post. Another working site is Gongabu, within the city.
VIN has been implementing intigrated approach to community development in our projects sites, e.g. Women empowerment, Child and Youth development, Teacher Development, Basic Education improvement ptoject, Child Sponsorship, and much more. We place volunteers in the area to support these programmes and monitor development. Come and give your hand to make the difference for these marginalized people.
There are also projects located in monasteries, schools and orphanages elsewhere in the region.
